The parade of witnesses through the General Courts has not yet begun, but it has been weeks since the investigative commissions on the payment of illegal commissions by public administrations to an alleged corrupt plot for the purchase of medical equipment during the pandemic they lead, with the permission of the Amnesty law, political activity in Congress and the Senate.

Despite the immoral background of the matter, which concerns the obscene enrichment of people who took advantage of their contacts in the institutions to award themselves millionaire contracts to obtain masks, at a time when the population was confined to their homes and thousands of people died in hospitals due to an unknown virus, the Spanish Government and the opposition, four years later, have embarked on a war without rules.

Yesterday, the struggle between the PP, which controls the powers of the Senate thanks to its absolute majority, and the PSOE, which leads a fragile government majority in Congress, continued on the occasion of the investigation commission on the Koldo case, extended to include the rescue of Air Europa or what is known as Delcygate, the mysterious stay for a few hours in Barajas in February 2020 of the Vice President of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez.

Once confirmed the appearance of Koldo García on Monday April 22 at 11 a.m., after a few days of uncertainty in which the ex-advisor of the former Minister of Transport José Luis Ábalos had not been able to be located to notify him the requirement, the PSOE brought two complaints to the table of the commission in the Senate.

In the first, the socialist group asked for explanations for the urgent processing of this subpoena, in which they have not been respected, alleged the spokesperson of the PSOE in this commission, the Basque senator Alfonso Gil, the 15 days established by rules of the Upper House from notification to appearance. And in the second, the updated work plan was requested.

Socialist sources explained that the request for the work plan was duly attended to, but that, far from justifying the haste of Koldo García’s appearance, the PP took advantage of the situation to attack the PSOE. “There is no problem with this statement, but we wanted to make it clear that the deadlines are not respected”, they argued.

“Forms are essential in Parliament and that is why we point out that a series of issues reflected in the regulations have not been taken into account. Even so, we will not contest that appearance or anything similar”, indicated these sources, who reiterated that the registered writings did not represent “an attempt to prevent KoldoGarcía from appearing on Monday” and that “at no time is it requested or cancelled. lation or adjournment”, but it was a simple matter of parliamentary procedure.

The PP, on the contrary, received these requests from the PSOE as evidence that the party of Pedro Sánchez is “nervous” and “has panicked about what Koldo García can explain” in the Senate and “is trying to boycott his appearance as well of course and using all possible artifices”. This is why he understands that the socialist group’s letter sought to postpone Monday’s appointment, which will coincide with that of the leader of the PSC and former Minister of Health, Salvador Illa, at the Congress of Deputies.
