The Civil Guard and SEPRONA have seized a specimen of the Harris Eagle (Parabuteo Unicinctus) in a home in the Rioja town of Hormilleja. The bird lacked legal documentation under the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES).

The owner of the eagle, a 47-year-old man, a resident of Hormilleja, has been investigated as the alleged perpetrator of a crime against wildlife. Therefore, the bird was intervened, recovered and subsequently transferred to the Wildlife Recovery Center of La Rioja, La Fombera, to continue caring for it.
