The first awards from the Spanish Academy of Music (Acamus) are already a reality. At an event held last Wednesday, the organization of music awards with the collaboration of the Community of Madrid was announced. The first gala will be held in the first week of May at the WiZink Center in Madrid.
In this way, and as the Academy explained in a press release, the new awards seek to recognize the talent, quality and excellence of the many professionals in the sector in 48 different categories. Likewise, the Academy has opened this Tuesday, January 30, the deadline for the submission of candidatures by professionals and companies in the sector. This call will last until February 15 and a digital tool has been created to sign up.
Once this period has closed, a total of eleven commissions of experts will evaluate the candidacies to configure the nominations, which will be known starting March 21. The final vote that will decide the winners will be carried out by the more than 300 academics that make up the Academy and the members with the right to vote.
Luis Cobos, president of the Academy, stated last Wednesday that this awards ceremony will show “the enormous wealth that Spain has in music and will be a great showcase of excellence, talent and the creative and productive work of the musical community.” .
The awards ceremony will have the support of the Community of Madrid, which will allocate 4 million euros to the event and will be held in the context of the Community festival. The awards will be presented at the WiZink Center, being the final touch and a moment of collective celebration to honor the music sector professionals of the year.
In the press release, the Academy states that the ceremony will feature the participation of the main artists and professionals of Spanish and Latin music, and will be broadcast by a top-level television network.
In total, 48 awards will be presented that will cover all levels of the musical profession and the different genres.
