Good place to rest with Jordi Savall in Igualada, as we see in this snapshot in La Vanguardia’s Readers’ Photos, which shows us this little corner with the sculpture in honor of the musician.

The sculpture dedicated to the musician, the work of Teresa Riba Tomàs from Iguala, occupies a prominent place in Plaça del Pilar, as can be seen in the photograph.

In 2019, the City Council wanted to pay tribute to Jordi Savall, a universal man from Igualada, musicologist, orchestra director, performer and popularizer of early music.

In this way, he dedicated a sculpture to him that represents Savall in bronze, life-size, sitting on a bench, performing a piece with the viola da gamba.

The City Council highlighted that Jordi Savall is the “main architect of the valorization of early music and that he won the 2012 Léonie Sonning prize, considered the Nobel Prize in music.”
