Israeli settlers held a conference on “Israel’s victory” last Sunday in Jerusalem. They spoke openly of expelling the Palestinians from Gaza.
Eleven ministers from Beniamin Netanyahu’s Government and fifteen members of the coalition that supports him attended.
The meeting was presided over by a large map of Gaza with the Arabic place names replaced by new ones in Hebrew. A video of Israeli troops stationed in front of the strip was shown in which the troops exclaimed that “there are no innocents in Gaza.”
There was celebratory music and singing, an eccentricity in a country still mourning the October 7 massacre.
Minister Ben-Gvir spoke of the “voluntary migration” of Gazans. Activist Aviad Visolo advocated for forced expulsion and Daniella Weiss, head of the main settler organization, assured that “the Arabs will leave because Israel will not give them anything” and “the world will accept it.”
