The Town Council of Pineda de Mar and that of Santa Susanna (Maresme) have reached an agreement to join forces and celebrate the summer music festivals that until now were hosted by Pineda, on La Llàntia beach in the municipality of Santa Susanna. With this, they try to prevent first-class musical events from being held, as happened with the Arts d’Estiu festival last August.

The agreement reached by the mayors of Santa Susanna, Joan Campolier, and that of Pineda de Mar, Xavier Amor, will require the agreement of a third component, the music promoter The Project Music Company, which until now had an agreement with the promoters that They acted on behalf of the Cercle Cultural de Pineda de Mar, with whom they have some disagreements that could prevent extending the pact.

The last word, however, will be the Department of Costs of the Generalitat, but the fact that the musical festivals will no longer be held on the Pins de Pineda beach will favor an agreement so that the Arts d’Estiu festival or another similar, since the original could change its name as it was registered by the former promoters, it is held on La Llàntia beach where there are no inhabited areas nearby.

Sources from both city councils have confirmed that the direction of the festival, which until now was held by two members of the Cercle Cultural, will become that of The Project, once the parties did not assume the representation of the two representatives. Likewise, the poor relations between these two organizers and the Santa Susanna City Council did not allow for an agreement that would guarantee continuing to hold the massive event with the same management.

According to sources close to the two municipalities, one of the conditions that the Santa Susanna City Council has suggested, whose municipal area will host the stage and the village space, is that the artists who come to Maresme be first class. The festival, on the other hand, will also modify its schedule. The 12 concerts that will be held, probably during the month of August, will begin at 9:00 p.m. while the leisure area, with shops and bars, will close at 11:00 p.m.

Once The Project and the Santa Susanna City Council analyze the possibility of not maintaining the deals with the former promoters, the Pineda de Mar City Council will mediate with the new organization so that the Cercle Cultural, which is accumulating an economic deficit caused by the management of the promoters of Arts d’Estiu, can be financially compensated.

The first step of the new organization will be to notify the agreement, both to the Department of Costs of the Generalitat and to the Department of Urbanism so that they can issue a provisional license that will allow one of the most crowded festivals of the summer to be held in the area again. The important thing, the two city councils point out, is that “we do not lose these events and that by joining efforts we can be more competitive, if possible.”

The Summer Arts festival stopped being held due to allegations made by the residents of the Bellamar neighborhood, who also had the resolution of the Ombudsman of Greuges, which advised against locating the massive event in Pineda de Mar, in front of the homes. . On the other hand, the Prosecutor’s Office began an investigation to analyze whether the sonometric conditions carried out by the Mossos of the Medi Ambient area were in accordance with the regulations.
