A five-story, 20-story building collapsed inside, from the roof to the ground floor, this Tuesday in the Raval neighborhood of Badalona, ??shortly after 10:30 a.m. The security services cannot rule out that people are trapped.

The building, which has five floors, was built in 1959 and has collapsed from the third floor to the ground floor. The security forces have proceeded to evacuate the adjacent homes until the extent of the damage is known, which has evacuated 60 more floors of the adjacent buildings.

The Firefighters are looking for trapped people and to this end they have deployed the canine rescue unit and the building structure unit, although, for the moment, no victim has been located. In addition, they have reported that there are no injuries. The City Council, for its part, is reviewing the registrations to try to locate the residents.

The building is located at number 9 Canigó Street. The Firefighters, who have activated 13 units, have preventively evacuated the two buildings next door, number 7 and number 11. The Medical Emergency System (SEM) has activated five units and a joint team with the Firefighters, in addition to the team of psychologists. Civil Protection has activated the Procicat plan on pre-alert.

The head of the Fire Department of the North Metropolitan Regional Area, Eduard Martínez, explained that the work focuses on removing the debris to verify that there are no victims. For his part, the head of the SEM, Antoni Carballo, declared that a psychological support team has been moved for those affected, which the City Council has provisionally installed in the Casal de la Gent Gran and has already guaranteed accommodation in several establishments in the city and at CUESP in Barcelona.
