This afternoon the draw for the semi-finals of the Copa de la Reina was held at the Ciudad Deportiva de Las Rozas. FC Barcelona will face Athletic Club while Atlético de Madrid, current champion, will face Real Sociedad.
The first ball to come out was that of Athletic Club, so the first leg match between the Biscayans and the Blaugrana will be held in Lezama, on Thursday, March 7 (9:00 p.m.). The return, for its part, will be at the Johan Cruyff a week later, at the same time. David Aznar’s men reach this round after having beaten Costa Adeje Tenerife in the quarterfinals on penalties. Barça, however, had it easier, as they easily got rid of Sevilla (8-0).
Barça, which could not hope to win the Cup last season when it was eliminated due to improper alignment, is the favorite to win the trophy, although as Vicky López has highlighted “all the teams are good and anyone can win the competition.”
