The video by @danimarlelettering has more than 9 million likes on TikTok in which he shares the state in which he found his car after a devastating fire. The steering wheel, the dashboard, the seats… Everything went up in flames except for one thing: his colleague’s thermal jug. Not only did the thermos look intact after the fire, but it also preserved the iced coffee inside! The images that have gone around the world have restored popularity to Stanley, a historic American manufacturer of lunch boxes and thermoses that resist almost anything.

Electrical engineer William Stanley invented the famous thermos by accident while working with current transformers. In 1913, Stanley discovered a welding process that could be used to vacuum insulate liquids and foods, which is how he created unbreakable bottles with stainless steel linings. Until then, most bottles had a glass coating that was fragile if dropped.

This discovery partly led to the popularity of Stanley thermoses among construction workers, as they needed a reliable product with high impact resistance. In addition, it was proven that steel preserved food better and guaranteed safer consumption.

Following the video in which a Stanley thermos manages to overcome a fire, a viral phenomenon has been unleashed with which this brand is experiencing a second golden age. In the United States, people are literally fighting to get ‘the Louis Vuitton of thermoses’, according to marketing expert user @roquegnz on Tiktok. Indeed, Stanley thermoses have become a status symbol and everyone wants to get one.

If you take a look at the official Stanley store, you will see that many of their products are out of stock and, of course, the glass that appears in the famous video is one of them. In fact, there are people who are reselling them on eBay for thousands of euros. The Stanley Quencher H2.0 Flowstate tumbler is made from 90% recycled stainless steel and weighs 635 grams.

Its double-wall insulation allows this thermos to retain heat for 7 hours, cold for 11 hours, and ice for up to 2 days. The Stanley tumbler has an ergonomic handle with grip inserts, removable screw-on lid and reusable straw. And what’s more, it can be put in the dishwasher!
