The Deputy Minister of the Government Sergi Sabrià, leader of the Esquerra Republicana, has assured in an interview with the Catalan News Agency (ACN) that “in no case is it on the table” to agree with the PSC of Salvador Illa in the next legislature, after the parliamentary elections scheduled for 2025.
The director of the office of President Pere Aragonès and former spokesperson for the Oriol Junqueras party, who has gained political weight for a few weeks, points out that his idea is to “govern alone” as they have done in the last year and a half, after the departure of Junts from the Government. The Republicans set their goal of winning the elections that should be held in a year to repeat the current formula. “Our goal is to have more deputies and govern alone,” says the leader.
This Saturday, former Congress representative Joan Tardà responded to Sabrià’s words. He has stood up to his statements and has indicated that “it will be the militancy who will debate and decide” the pacts.
“Sabrià is right, ERC does not plan to govern with the socialists in 2025. Likewise, however, it does not plan to do so with Junts because the debate has not yet started,” the former deputy noted in a tweet, adding that At the outset, the objective has to be to win the elections, a scenario that today seems complicated based on the party’s latest electoral results and the poll forecasts.
Precisely, the former spokesperson for ERC in the Congress of Deputies defended this Friday in an event organized by Nueva Economía Fórum, in which he presented to the Minister of Justice, Gemma Ubasart, that after the next elections to the Parliament there must be a “tripartite of the left” in Catalonia made up of ERC, PSC and the commons.
The three forces jointly approved last year’s budgets and for this year it is likely that they will repeat the agreement. Although Esquerra agreed with JxCat in 2021, a tripartite agreement was also possible.
