Participation in the regional elections of Galicia at 12 noon on February 18 stood at 17.09%, which is 2.33 points less than the 19.42% registered in the 2020 elections, marked by the pandemic, and two points more than in the 2016 election, when at this time 15.01% of voters had come to vote.
According to the data provided by the Xunta, by province, A Coruña currently registers a 16.68% participation -2.11 points less than in 2020-; Lugo 17.71% -0.49% less than in 2020; Ourense by 19.29% – a drop of 2.41 points -; and Pontevedra by 16.64% -3.21% less than in 2020-.
This was detailed in a press conference by the general director of Emergencies and Interior, Santiago Villanueva, who will appear before the media again at 5:30 p.m. to give participation data until 5:00 p.m.
It should be noted that the 2020 elections were marked by the pandemic, with areas such as A Mariña, Lucense, where the Xunta had adopted measures to restrict mobility due to a resurgence of coronavirus.
