The low water level in the Darnius-Boadella reservoir in the Alt Empordà region, currently at 11% of its capacity, means that the old 18th century cannon ammunition factory has completely drained of water.
This is the Royal Foundry of Sant Sebastià de la Muga. In these images in Las Fotos de los Lectores de La Vanguardia we first see a general view of La Foneria with the hermitage of Sant Sebastià.
The second image shows us La Rajoleria, which is said to have never come out of the water until now, a picture that demonstrates the exceptional nature of this moment of drought in Catalonia.
In the third image we see the houses of La Foneria. The old weapons factory, built between 1768 and 1771, began production in 1773.
The colony of Sant Sebastià de la Muga was built next to the river, it was destroyed in the 19th century by French troops and, later, disappeared under the reservoir.
The river that supplies the reservoir is the Muga, which also suffers from persistent drought. 12 municipalities depend on the Darnius Boadella reservoir, including Figueres, Roses and Cadaqué
