A 1st year ESO student from the Vedruna school in Balaguer jumped out of the center’s second floor window this Tuesday afternoon.
The 12-year-old girl was injured and was taken to the Arnau de Vilanova hospital in Lleida, but there is no fear for her life, according to the newspaper Segre and police sources confirmed to ACN.
The events occurred around 5 p.m., when the students were already packing up to go home. The young woman, for reasons that are still unknown, climbed onto a table, jumped out of the window and fell into an interior patio of the center.
The students and teachers who witnessed the incident notified the emergency services. The girl suffers from fractures in her legs and hip.
The incident shocked students, teachers and family members who were in the center at that time, right at departure time and in the middle of Sant Jordi.
The school management met immediately to activate the protocol and has assured that psychological help will be offered to students who need it. All families at the center have also been informed.
