The Special Police Intervention Group of the Badalona Urban Guard (GEIP) yesterday arrested a man who was carrying two real firearms, along with 120 rounds of ammunition. The arrest occurred in the La Mora neighborhood of Badalona (Barcelonès Nord) and the GEIP intervened following information provided by the proximity unit of the Guàrdia Urbana in that neighborhood.

Around 9 p.m. yesterday, the agents stopped at a checkpoint a vehicle with a Spanish license plate driven by a man of Serbian nationality, who was found with two pistols with ammunition, a thousand euros in cash and three mobile phones that will be attached to criminal proceedings. The man was arrested at the scene for illegal possession of firearms.

The mayor of Badalona, ??Xavier Garcia Albiol, has congratulated the Urban Guard agents for this arrest and has indicated that “this is the path that Badalona will follow to fight crime and achieve a safer city in which residents can have peace of mind.” Thanks to the police presence that “we have reinforced in recent months and the good work of the Badalona Urban Guard, it has been possible to arrest a person who represented an obvious danger,” he added.
