In Las Fotos de los Lectores de La Vanguardia we can relive the images of the low fog waterfall that was recorded today in Pedraforca with the Bellmunt sanctuary in the foreground immersed in this meteorological phenomenon.
The photographs and video have been captured from L’Esquirol, a large municipality located to the east of the Osona region, in the center-east of the Alt Ter region.
Nighttime cooling near the ground, in an environment of atmospheric stability, can produce these fogs, which form extensive banks and can be particularly persistent. In Osona, the place in Spain with the most foggy days per year, the “baixa joke” is popular.
In this case, we observe the shocking moment in which the fog slides over the Pedraforca in the direction of the Bellmunt sanctuary, which is located at 1,246 meters above sea level and from where the landscape of the Plana de Vic is dominated.
The popular Pedraforca has a very peculiar shape due to its two peaks separated by a large hill, which gives it its name. The northern summit is made up of two peaks: Pollegó Superior (2506 m) next to Calderer (2505 m). The south is made up of the Pollegó Inferior (2445 m).
