“Kebo (map of the pell d’un cos) is presented as a tribute to the scars and life experiences that remain marked on the skin,” according to the author Vero Cendonya, “a project that speaks of the need for collaboration in different spheres and that transits between memory.” An inclusive representation that is part of a trilogy. In fact, Kebo is the second story, it began with Cicatrius, which was established as a piece that is performed in the street, and will end with the choreography Una Brillant Imperfecció, a co-production of the Teatro Nacional de Catalunya.
A show that premieres this weekend – from May 24 to 26 – at the Mercat de les Flors. And the title of the work, Kebo, corresponds to the name of the brush used in the Japanese kintsugi technique, which consists of repairing fractures in ceramic pieces with a resin varnish mixed with gold or silver powder. Thus, it is proposed that the breaks and repairs are part of history and that they should be shown and not hidden. “Everyone has scars, but they have to be shown, that’s why we have seven interpreters, two of them with functional diversity,” says Cendonya.
The choreographer also once again has the help of Isra Solà, the director of the La Calórica company, as well as the playwright and composer Adele Maudau. She is in charge of the composition and performs the show’s music live. “Normally I try to ensure that the compositions are made by women,” in addition, Maudau adds that “this representation is inspired by other stories, including Memoirs of a Geisha, Kill Bill, and some manga stories.” Bárbara Menenses has joined the team and will be in charge of lighting and the stage space.
“One of our objectives, since the company is going to celebrate fifteen years, is to bring dance closer and expand it to all audiences, because we believe that it can be used as a tool to improve society and the transformation of the group,” indicates the also performer. , teacher, painter and illustrator. “In this way we will be able to promote the diversity and plurality of people represented on stage, based on social projects.” In 2008, Cendonya created his own dance and theater company that is characterized, above all, by collaboration with artists. of different disciplines. Likewise, his works have been presented in countless theaters and festivals in Spain and in countries such as Italy, France, Belgium, among others.
This is a performance co-produced by Cia. Vero Cendonya, Mercat de les Flors, El Canal-Salt and the Circuito Claps Specttacolo Dal Vivo within the framework of Europe of Beyond Access II, a project co-financed by Creative Europe of the European Union, of the which is a partner of Mercat.
