The Solius Consortium increases its rates to address the deficit it has caused as a result of the extra cost in waste management caused by the closure of the landfill and the composting plant, estimated at around 200,000 euros per month.

The mayors of the five consorting municipalities (Llagostera, Calonge and Sant Antoni, Sant Feliu de Guíxols, Platja d’Aro and Santa Cristina d’Aro) have reported this Wednesday the increase in the amount per ton and have stated that it is an “undesirable situation ” and that they have been “forced” to update the rates, which will come into force in July.

The mayors emphasize that this year the municipalities will have to assume the cost with their own resources but that it will surely translate into an increase in rates for residents by 2025.

“From the Consorci we have had to take measures to face the added costs that we had not anticipated, which has meant an increase in rates,” explained the mayor of Llagostera and president of the association, Narcís Llinàs, in the appearance they held. held this Wednesday by the mayors of the five municipalities.

“It is not the moment we would like but it is a necessity, because the situation created a very significant monthly deficit and, for this reason, we have had to make this decision,” Llinàs stated.

The reason, as stated by the Consorci, is that they have a deficit of around 200,000 euros per month due to the extra cost caused by the closure of the entire Solius waste complex (where the landfill and composting plant were located). to comply with the sentences that forced it to close.

The area has become a transfer plant from which waste from around twenty municipalities and two Girona regional councils are transferred to other landfills.
