The modus operandi is known. One or more thieves place a sharp object on the wheel of a parked car and then follow it and once the vehicle has started, warn its occupants of the punctured tire. When the victim stops and gets out of his vehicle to check the facts, the criminals take the opportunity to take valuables.

It is the ‘Peruvian’ method. This is how two thieves acted on the AP-7 near the town of Sant Gregori, on the afternoon of February 8. A man approached the car of the victim, a woman who was accompanied by her mother, and gave her clear instructions to stop because she had a flat tire.

When she stopped, the man got out of his vehicle with the excuse of helping her change the tire. At this moment, taking advantage of the fact that the woman had left the trunk open to look for her repair kit, a second thief took the opportunity to steal the handbag in which she was carrying a large amount of jewelry and cash. The victim filed a complaint at the Mollet del Vallès police station.

On February 22, the investigation led the Mossos d’Esquadra to the home of one of the perpetrators, a 37-year-old man who is held responsible for the crime of robbery with violence and intimidation.

The agents recovered some of the stolen money and jewelry, some of which were precious pieces that had already been dismantled. The investigators do not consider the operation closed while waiting to arrest the other person involved in the events.
