In the Photos of the Readers of La Vanguardia we can see and hear the sound of the mesmerizing Resclosa del Cairat, between Monistrol de Montserrat and the spa of La Puda. In this place of Esparreguera, in the Baix Llobregat, we can contemplate the descent of the Llobregat river.
The Cairat gorge is a natural passage dug by the Llobregat river, which is located at the foot of the Montserrat mountain, and which crosses the Catalan Prelittoral Cordillera.
In this gorge surrounded by farmhouses, such as Can Paloma del Cairat, Can Tobella and Ca n’Astruc, the municipalities of Collbató, Esparreguera and Olesa de Montserrat meet.
This lock was built over the Cairat gorge in 1878. This location was chosen because in this place the waters of the Llobregat river were already retained naturally and formed a spectacular waterfall.
In the Resclosa del Cairat we will find a building, where there are three gates to drain and convey the water to the Sedó neighborhood. In the landscape around the lock, the riverside forest with poplars and poplars stands out.
