Excellent initiative by the Gavà City Council, in Baix Llobregat, to alleviate the extreme drought in the town’s trees. Tests have begun to irrigate with non-potable water in different selected specimens of the municipality’s trees, as we see in La Vanguardia’s Readers’ Photos.

This drop-by-drop irrigation bag system allows better water filtration in the trees, with maximum water savings. Let’s all fight together against extreme drought.

Drop-by-drop irrigation applies water slowly and locally to the foot of each tree. In this way, water consumption is better focused in times of drought.

Among the actions that Gavà has been implementing during the long period of drought is the decision to irrigate trees with less than 2 years of plantation with groundwater, from the subsoil. And the trees and bush plants are drip irrigated.

During the drought there is also the use of groundwater for all cleaning services in public spaces and street furniture.
