The president of the Generalitat, Carlos Mazón, has announced that the first aid from the Consell for the families affected by the fire in the Valencian neighborhood of Campanar has already begun to be paid this Thursday.

This was stated during his speech at the control session held this Thursday in Les Corts, in which he also thanked the extraordinary solidarity shown by all the Valencian people and the coordination and management of all public administrations to provide an immediate response to the affected people.

Likewise, the president has thanked the collaboration of all political groups shown from the first moment, as well as the proposals of the PSPV and Compromís for a great pact on emergencies and the creation of a study commission to analyze what happened, and has remembered his offer, from the beginning of the legislature, to reach agreements on fundamental issues for the people of Valencia, Alicante and Castellón “above the brawl.”

Carlos Mazón also recalled the commendable work of the different fire departments, civil protection, psychologists, police, health and emergency personnel, and the solidarity of the business sector for their collaboration this week.

First aid

The head of the Valencian Executive has explained that the first aid from the Consell is already being paid for the immediate care of those who lost their habitual and permanent residence, for a global amount of 1.38 million euros. Furthermore, he recalled that all aid is being managed through a single window that is being coordinated by the Valencia City Council, to avoid bureaucracy and streamline it as much as possible, and that it is compatible with those granted by any other public administration.

Regarding aid for housing rental, he explained that in the case of people who at the time of the fire had their habitual and permanent residence in a home they owned, the aid will last up to one year, and for those who were In the rental regime, the aid will be for 3 months, extendable depending on the vulnerability of the families.

The amount of the aid will be equal to the price of the rental of the home, with a limit of 1,000 euros per month, which may be increased to 1,500 euros per month, at a rate of 100 additional euros for each of the people who, in addition to the applicant, are going to reside in the new home.

On the other hand, he recalled that the different departments have also implemented support actions such as preferential relocation to residences and day centers of dependent people who had their habitual residence in the damaged buildings; psychological assistance benefits; tax aid consisting of setting the zero rate on the property transfer tax for the acquisition of a new home; measures for preferential schooling of minors from families who have to change their residence, and free public transportation.
