This Thursday, Estrella Morente and Rafael Riqueni starred in the long-awaited presentation of their new work Estrella y Rafael at the Albéniz Theater in Madrid. The album arrives in physical format (CD and Vinyl) this Friday, April 26.
Both artists have come together to give life to a work that pays a heartfelt tribute to the ancestral roots of flamenco, especially to two of its most legendary figures in singing: La Niña de los Peines and the guitarist Niño Ricardo. This is the first release from Pino Sagliocco’s OCO label.
After the presentation of this work in digital format last November during the Latin Grammy celebration in Seville, and after its exclusive presentation at the Palacio de Las Dueñas, the physical edition is now available on both vinyl and CD of Estrella and Rafael. The album features the cover and photographs by artist Lita Cabellut.
Beyond an exceptional musical collaboration, this album represents a story of redemption and solidarity. Maestro Riqueni’s journey from prison to his artistic resurgence on stages around the world is a story that adds deeper meaning to the album.
In fact, the project was conceived and recorded in the Seville penitentiary center, where Riqueni was serving his sentence. Morente played a crucial role in the meeting and, as the guitarist himself explains, “her gesture of kindness and support from him” transformed “his life, allowing him” to reconnect with his art and express himself through music. “.
