Pere Aragonès has almost exhausted all the available expressions to disqualify the situation experienced these five days, since Pedro Sánchez made public the letter in which he announced that his resignation was being considered. This afternoon has not left any margin of credibility for the head of the Government. That the Catalan leader goes so far as to affirm that “everything has been a political maneuver” reflects this. A shenanigans that, in the president’s opinion, has served to stop talking about the Koldo case – for which the PSC candidate Salvador Illa had to appear in Congress and the Senate – and to try to boost the PSC in the elections to the Parliament on May 12. “Not everything goes in politics,” cried the president of the Generalitat.

The ERC candidate for the elections has only allowed himself to express that Sánchez has been making things difficult. But everything that came out of his mouth suggests that idea. Thus, he has dared to call the situation experienced for five days until Sánchez’s final announcement a “comedy”, a “smokescreen” and an “electoral act”.

For the Republican, citizens have heard “a sermon” with some personalistic overtones that, in his opinion, are evident in the fact that Sánchez has not communicated any proposal during his appearance.

“Keeping the entire State in a situation of uncertainty for five days is absolute frivolity,” Aragonès continued. The president of the Generalitat has assured that “in the face of any attack we have the maximum of empathy, but in the face of a five-day comedy and electoral event, empathy must be put aside and denounce that it has not been an honest action,” he stated. .

Why dishonest? Aragonès has been convinced that he has acted in an electoral manner, to the point that he has stated that if there had not been elections in Catalonia, this entire situation would not have occurred: “These days it has prevented the PSC from talking about what they want to do in Catalonia or that cases of corruption in the management of the pandemic that are being studied in Congress and the Senate be addressed.”

Everything responds to an electoral calculation, in the opinion of the Catalan president. It has not even been believed that Sánchez was truly going through a bad personal moment. Aragonès has even underestimated the entire situation experienced until today. He has contrasted it with the espionage that he has suffered through Pegasus: “Can anyone imagine that it would have taken me five days to find out about the espionage with Pegasus?”

In any case, for Aragonès Sánchez has certified that “Spanish democracy is of poor quality”.
