In La Vanguardia Readers’ Photos we can see in these images the incredible change experienced by the Sant Fe reservoir thanks to the recent rains. It’s a joy to see it so full.

In the comparison between a photo taken on March 31, 2024 and another on May 4, 2024, we can see that the current appearance of the green vegetation and the full reservoir contrasts with the sad trees and the drought of March.

The drought had also affected the Montseny reservoir, built in 1920 to generate electricity for a luxury hotel, although natural life has continued its course thanks to the recent rains above all, which have helped the vegetation to now appear splendid and The waterfalls around the swamp look like authentic waterfalls.

This reservoir owes its name to the stream on which it is built, that of Santa Fe, a tributary of the Tordera river, and belongs to the municipality of Fogàs de Monclús, in Vallès Oriental.

However, the reservoir drinks from various streams such as Passavets or Gualba, which thanks to the recent rains come down full of water, with force.

The history of this reservoir dates back to the beginning of the 20th century when the Barcelona businessman and publisher Ramón Montaner bought the Santa Fe Valley.

His goal was to build a luxury hotel and, since there was no electricity, he ordered a dam to be built. Finally, the reservoir had to be built in 1935.
