Pedro Alonso became one of the breakout actors in La casa de papel, the most watched Netflix series in the world. The series of the gang of robbers in red overalls and Dalí’s mask became a global phenomenon, as well as Berlin, the sequel to the series in which the actor starred, playing the same character he gave life to in fiction.
A sequel that was a success in its first season, released in October 2023; with a protagonist who has given so much joy to the Galician actor. Now he is living a sweet time as one of the most famous actors on current television, but few know the sour moment that happened a few years ago, when he ended up broke and had to return to live in his father’s small village. .
A man who wanted to be a footballer, but only until one of his teachers encouraged him to try his luck in theater and become an actor. After some years dedicating himself to art, with participation in La Fura dels Baus and as the protagonist in Alma Gitana; Fate wanted him to have to retire earlier than expected. This was revealed by Alonso himself in an interview with Mara Torres in El Faro.

“At 30-something, when I started meditating, I had a moment of absolute reset,” recalls the actor in an interview with Time Out Barcelona. “I did not feel well. I felt like I had missed the boat, I was ruined, with a four-year-old daughter… I have had difficult times.”
Even so, Alonso acknowledges that he overcame it, learning a valuable lesson in the process. “Later I saw that who wouldn’t?” he asked himself. “Suddenly everything collapses, you can’t take anything for granted… This is an industry that can be very unpleasant at times, and wonderful at others.”
Now, Alonso has almost nine million on Instagram and has an enviable track record. More than fifty titles as an actor behind him, an enviable charisma and plenty of talent to make up one of the most solid careers in the world of acting.
The opportunity to play Berlin marked a before and after in his professional life, even though his character disappears in the second season of the series. “Since he is dead, things don’t stop happening to me, I no longer have expectations,” Alonso said then.
