The old mill of Santa Fe de Montseny gives life to the swamp again with this small waterfall through which the water flows, as we see in The Readers’ Photos of La Vanguardia, after leaving behind the worst of the drought.
The history of this reservoir dates back to the beginning of the 20th century when the Barcelona businessman and publisher Ramón Montaner bought the Santa Fe Valley.
His goal was to build a luxury hotel and, since there was no electricity, he ordered a dam to be built. Finally, the reservoir had to be built in 1935.
This reservoir owes its name to the stream on which it is built, that of Santa Fe, a tributary of the Tordera river, and belongs to the municipality of Fogàs de Monclús, in Vallès Oriental.
However, the reservoir drinks from various streams such as Passavets or Gualba. The small waterfall next to the remains of the old mill draws a landscape of hope after the drought.
