The socialists clearly won the elections in Catalonia. The sum of the pro-independence parties no longer reaches an absolute majority despite the moderate push by Junts due to the collapse of ERC. The right gained ground with a Popular Party that clearly advanced upwards in Catalonia while Vox resists.
A top-down view of what happened on May 12 indicates a clear conservative turn in Catalan politics. The clear victory of the Partit del Socialistes masks this evidence. Salvador Illa won the elections in Catalonia with a significant advantage, rising to 42 deputies, nine more than in 2021.
