YNW Melly, the rapper accused of killing two of his childhood friends in 2019, has filed a lawsuit against the Broward Sheriff’s Office (BSO) alleging mistreatment and demanding immediate release. The lawsuit claims that YNW Melly, whose real name is Jamell Demons, is being unlawfully detained under conditions that violate several amendments to the United States Constitution.

According to Demons’ attorney, Michael Pizzi, it has been challenging for the rapper to meet with his lawyers, and he has had limited contact with his family members. Pizzi is seeking to file a federal motion to address the alleged solitary confinement that his client is experiencing and push for his release from jail.

BSO responded to the allegations by stating that Demons is not in solitary confinement but is on administrative segregation due to posing a threat to the safety of staff or inmates. Despite this, Demons’ mother, Jamie King, expressed her frustration at not being able to speak with her son since 2022, with communication delays causing further distress.

In a press conference, King vowed to continue fighting for her son, expressing her love for him and her determination to see him home. However, Demons’ future remains uncertain as his new trial date is scheduled for September 10, 2025, with the possibility of facing the death penalty if found guilty.

The legal battle between YNW Melly and BSO continues as the rapper seeks justice and freedom amidst allegations of mistreatment and constitutional violations. Stay updated with the latest news on this case by subscribing to our newsletter for timely updates delivered straight to your inbox.
