Sgt. Todd Thomas, aged 49, experienced a medical emergency on Sunday while returning home from a family trip. Despite efforts to save him, Thomas did not survive.
Thomas had been a part of the department since May 2015, having previously served for nine years in the Breckenridge Hills Police Department. Before his career in law enforcement, he held the title of Corporal in the Marines.
