A San Diego Police vehicle was involved in a collision on Saturday afternoon in the Midway neighborhood near Liberty Station. The incident occurred when the police vehicle, with its lights on and sirens activated for an emergency response, went through a red light at the intersection of Barnett Avenue and Midway Drive. At the same time, a 27-year-old woman driving a Honda Accord attempted to make a left turn from Midway Drive and collided with the police vehicle.

As a result of the crash, four people were injured. The driver of the Honda, who was identified as being under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol, suffered a femur fracture and was taken to the hospital. Her passenger also sustained injuries and was hospitalized with a fracture around their eye. The two SDPD officers involved in the collision suffered minor injuries in the form of cuts and abrasions.

Following the incident, the intersection at Midway Drive and Barnett Avenue was closed for several hours, causing traffic disruptions in the area. However, the road has since reopened, and the situation is under control.
