The long-awaited first fall front of the season has finally arrived in Miami, bringing with it milder temperatures and lower humidity. This welcome change in weather comes at the perfect time as the dry season has just begun with low rain chances for the next seven days. Aside from a few showers blowing onshore across mainland South Florida, conditions are expected to remain quiet. The Florida Keys may experience some showers on Friday and Saturday due to their proximity to the fall front.
On Thursday, the forecast calls for mostly cloudy skies with some breaks of sunshine and high temperatures struggling to reach 80F. This is the mildest we’ve seen since April in Miami and March in Fort Lauderdale. Strong winds are expected as a result of the front, with a Wind Advisory in effect for coastal Miami-Dade and Broward Counties until 8PM. The windy conditions will persist into the weekend and gradually improve next week, with sustained winds of 15-25 mph. These strong winds may lead to hazardous marine conditions and could worsen the ongoing King Tide flooding, especially along the east coast where a Coastal Flood Advisory is in effect.
Temperatures will remain mild on Friday with wake-up temperatures in the low to mid-70s before returning to more seasonable levels next week. The mostly cloudy skies will persist through Saturday before giving way to more sunshine next week. In the tropics, there are currently no active systems to track in the Atlantic basin, but there are two areas with lower chances of tropical development over the next seven days.
