Four individuals are facing criminal charges following a protest in west St. Louis County in July. The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office has issued a criminal summons for Luke Adams, Jad Aqrabawi, Malak Hamed, and Claire Howell.
The incident took place on July 24 in the 14000 block of Manchester Road during rush-hour traffic. The St. Louis County Police Department stated that officers asked protestors to leave the roadway multiple times, citing violations of state laws and county ordinances.
As the protest escalated, officers tried to remove individuals from the road, resulting in various assaults and injuries. Hamed allegedly yelled at an officer, spat in their face, and was subsequently arrested. She is facing charges of fourth-degree assault, resisting arrest, peace disturbance, and refusal to disperse.
Aqrabawi is accused of lighting a handheld smoke bomb near an officer, causing minor burns. He is facing charges of fourth-degree assault, resisting arrest, peace disturbance, and refusal to disperse. Howell and Adams allegedly attempted to pull protestors away from officers while the road was blocked. They are facing similar charges of assault, resisting arrest, peace disturbance, and refusal to disperse.
All four individuals will be required to appear in court at a later date as specified in the criminal summons. The investigation is being handled by the St. Louis County Police Department’s West County Precinct officers.
