In the early 80s, the gorgeous fey twins Michael and Jay Aston made a name for themselves in the British goth-rock scene as Gene Loves Jezebel. Their unique twincestuous vibes and magnetic appeal set them apart from their peers. Despite their success, the twins had a turbulent relationship, leading to public feuds and lawsuits over the band name.

After a brief reunion tour in the mid-90s, tensions rose again when the Astons attempted to record a new album. The legal battle over the band name resulted in two versions of Gene Loves Jezebel, one led by Michael in the U.S. and the other by Jay under a different name. The brothers have not spoken in over a decade and have sworn off making music together.

Despite their rocky history, Gene Loves Jezebel remains a quintessential part of goth music history. Their upcoming performance at Reggies Music Joint is sure to be a nostalgic trip for fans. Even though a reunion seems unlikely, the allure of seeing the band live is enough to draw in audiences.

In addition to Gene Loves Jezebel, Sumthing Strange and Bellhead will also be performing at Reggies Music Joint on Mon 9/30 at 8:30 PM. Tickets are $25 at the door or $20 in advance for this 21+ show.
