While Kentucky is famous for its bourbon distilleries, Northern Kentucky has its own unique spots worth checking out. In addition to the well-known Kentucky Bourbon Trail, Northern Kentucky offers The B-Line, a trail consisting of craft distilleries, bourbon bars, and bourbon-centric restaurants.
One of the stops on the Northern Kentucky Bourbon Trail is Augusta Distillery in Bracken County. This distillery, founded in 1795, offers a variety of bourbons, including the award-winning Buckner’s 15 Single-Barrel Bourbon. Another notable stop is Boone County Distilling Co. in Independence, which has been producing a wide range of whiskeys since 2015. Neeley Family Distillery in Sparta, a family-owned operation that officially opened in 2015, offers a selection of spirits made from old family mash recipes.
New Riff Distillery in Newport, established in 2014, puts a modern twist on traditional Kentucky bourbon. Pensive Distilling Co. in Newport offers a unique experience with a full kitchen and taproom within the distillery. Second Sight Spirits in Ludlow, run by Rich Couch and Carus Waggoner, offers a variety of spirits, including Kentucky bourbon and different types of rum. The Old Pogue Distillery in Maysville, known as the “birthplace of bourbon,” produces small-batch rye and bourbon whiskeys.
These distilleries are just a few of the stops along the Northern Kentucky Bourbon Trail, each offering a unique tasting experience for bourbon enthusiasts. Whether you’re a bourbon connoisseur or just looking to explore the world of Kentucky bourbon, Northern Kentucky has something to offer for everyone on National Bourbon Day.
