CHERRY HILL TWP. — Seven months after it was heavily damaged by a fire, the Short Hills Restaurant and Deli is set to reopen with a new look and other fresh features.
Owner Jerry Kaplan, of Cherry Hill, said he is excited to finally be able to promise devoted customers that the eatery will open its doors in early spring.
“We are extremely excited to re-open,” Kaplan said in a press release. “Loyal customers stop by just to peer inside the windows as we complete the construction and I’m asked daily when will we open the doors. What a true compliment, knowing we have so many people looking forward to us coming back.”

The fire broke out in Short Hills Towne Center at 486 E. Evesham Road early July 12. Firefighters arriving on scene found flames on the exterior of the building extending inside, the department said at the time.
6ABC reported that the deli was also damaged by a 3-alarm fire in 2008 Betorder sparked by a discarded cigarette.
Kaplan said the deli has been completely reconstructed inside in the seven months since the blaze and now has an updated kitchen, take-out counter and dining area.
Other new features when the deli reopens will be a pickle bar, wine by Auburn Road Vineyard & Winery, some different dishes and Saturday morning breakfast specials.
The restaurant opened in 1997 and serves breakfast, lunch and dinner and also does catering. Among its menu of more than 200 items are customer favorites include smoked fish platters, triple-decker sandwiches, challah french toast, the release said.
