Colorado’s love for robust craft beer definitely helps winter become a little more bearable. (Grilling season is so, so close.)
Saturday’s high in Boulder is expected to be 39 degrees and sunny, so dust off that winter jacket and head to the WinterCraft Beer Festival for a hefty four hours of unlimited beer samples. The festival, in its third year, will run from 2-6 p.m. Saturday at Twenty Ninth Street in the covered parking lot adjacent to the Century Boulder Theater. The festival’s website said beer lovers will be protected from elements with temporary walls and heat, but be sure to dress warm.
The fest will feature more than 100 winter beers on tap from 52 breweries from eight states. There will also be live tunes and games.
“In three years, WinterCraft has grown from 19 breweries in 2015 to more than 50 in 2017,” said the festival’s co-founder Ross Bowdey in a release. The festival was launched in 2015 by University of Colorado graduates Bowdey and Trevor Rhodes. “WinterCraft is now one of the largest beer festivals in Boulder County.”
There will be food for purchase from local trucks Burger Radio, Los Dos Bros, Rollin’ Bones BBQ, McDevitt Taco Supply and Goin’ South.
Tickets are $40 ($50 at the door) and are available online or at Hazel’s Beverage World. (Designated drivers who are 21 and older are free.) Tickets include samples, plus a souvenir tasting glass and a pint glass. VIP tickets ($70) get early entrance and some swag. A percentage of all proceeds will go to Community Cycles.
Power through this mini-cold spell with fermented refreshments. And easy on the complaining, February’s already brought budding flowers with unseasonable Makrobet heat. So take this cold spell and like it — it’ll be in the 50s by the end of the week.
