The damage to the protected stairs of Park Güell has entered the political arena. ERC has registered a written request in the Gràcia district asking for explanations of what happened to the City Council.
The residents of the area reported earlier this week on social networks the damage to a section of the stairs in the Plaza de la Natura during the staging of the Louis Vuitton brand fashion show that will be held on May 23 in the framework of the America’s Cup.
The Republicans urge the municipal government to explain “the purpose and conditions” of the agreement with the company, the “impact it causes” on the space, the security measures contemplated to preserve the heritage elements of the park, as well as “what return” will have this event for the city.
Municipal sources reported that it was a “human error” during the preparations and that work is already underway to repair the wall. The same sources added that the company organizing the parade will be responsible for paying the repair costs following heritage guidelines.
