As promised, but another new trailer for the forthcoming “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. two” debuted Tuesday evening on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” The host had some help with the reveal from star Chris Pratt.
Kimmel told the audience that alternatively of possessing celebs on the show plugging their projects, he was going to permit audience members to plug whatever they wanted. The gag, of course, was that Pratt was 1 of the audience members, whom Kimmel didn’t appear to recognize. Kimmel also claimed to have never heard of “Guardians of the Galaxy.”
“There’s a hot green alien and we save the universe,” Pratt explained. “There is a raccoon who has a machine gun, talks a lot of smack. There is a sentient tree who only knows how to say his personal name…”
“Are you on drugs or one thing?” Kimmel interrupted.
As for the trailer itself, this version focused much more on action than comedy, while there was some of the latter. The big takeaway is that it ends with our first appear at Kurt Russell, who plays the father of Pratt’s character, Peter “Star-Lord” Quill.
Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. two” — also starring Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel and Michael Rooker — opens nationwide May possibly five.
Marvel is owned by Disney, the parent firm of ABC News.
