Thirteen days after the 38-year-old Iben Salling Syrik was found dead mysteriously in the family’s cottage on the edge of the Forest in Vesterlund, police have still not clarified how and why the woman died and whether she died as a result of a crime.
– Therefore, we are working with an investigation in full scale, as if it was real, that there is a drabssag, which should be cleared up, says vicepolitiinspektør Carsten Thostrup from Sydøstjyllands Police in a press release, where they also publish the woman’s name.

Iben Salling Syrik was divorced and lived on the Shortcut in the Give along with his 5-year-old son. She acted after it is lighted with horses, and was, according to the police referred to as a ’hestepige’.
Vicepolitiinspektøren urges citizens to consider whether they may be inside information, ‘which may be included as pieces in the big jigsaw puzzle’, as the police are about to lay.
They are seeking, among other things, information from people that know the deceased’s whereabouts 7. – 8. december, or as the well-known Iben Salling Syrik from the surrounding area, to have traded horses with her, from contacts, for example social media or in some other way familiar to the information about the woman.
– It can also be information about the persons with which the citizen considers to be relevant in relation to her, writes the police in the very broad appeal, which also stresses that information also can be found among citizens who are not from or around, but from all over the country.

It has been unusually sparse information from the police in the case, there still are unexplained to go, barely two weeks along in the investigation.
Vicepolitiinspektør Carsten Thostrup explains in the press release of the police strategy as follows:
– When we investigate a potentially very serious matter, so do we, as police often keep their cards close to the body, in the sense that there is a variety of information, which we must keep for ourselves. We do this because we must crack the case, and therefore we can not risk to give a perpetrator the advantages to reveal what we know or do not know.
– There is also a consideration for any future trial and to the parties involved. Where we stand now, we can still not disclose everything, but we can summarise the information we can provide.
Iben Salling Syrik was the owner of a black passenger car, estate car of the mark BMW, with registration number CK30844.
In the press release summarizing the what they have made in the investigation so far. Here it appears that they have written over 600 reports in the case, questioned many people, conducted surveys and sporsikring of technicians, dogs and forensic experts. There are carried out the autopsy, and the defense has assisted with physical examinations in the immediate area, and there is obtained the additional information of a different nature.
