2019 was a great year for Jakob Fuglsang – it best in his otherwise very successful career.

But alongside the victories in Liège-Bastogne-Liège and the Critérium du Dauphiné was the 34-year-old Astana rider the subject of a secret investigation by the cycling independent anti-dopingenhed, Cycling Anti-Doping Foundation (CADF). It writes the DR and Politiken, who has worked alongside Norwegian VG about the case.

concretely, is it about a possible collaboration with Michele Ferrari, who have a string of doping cases on his conscience, and, like his former client Lance Armstrong is banned from the sport for life.

In the classified report, which is based on the specific ‘intelligence’, it says, among other things:

‘Intelligence indicates that Astana Pro Team cyclist Jakob Fuglsang is in the Michele Ferraris dopingprogram, and teammate Alexey Lutsenko was present during at least one meeting between the two in the Nice/Monaco.’

‘CADF has made intelligence available, which suggests that Michele Ferrari is still involved in that dope the athletes on the Astana Pro Team and is believed to have travelled to Monaco and other locations to meet cykelrytterne,’ says the report. Fuglsang is just residing in Monaco.

‘Specifically indicates intelligence from CADF, that Michele Ferrari was present at the Vuelta a Catalunya with Astana Pro Team in march 2019, with a base in Lugano (Switzerland), and have recently met with Fuglsang and Lutsenko in Nice and/or Monaco, sounds it on.

the Report concludes, however, that there may be a link between the two or the doctor’s son, Stefan. At least not based on social media, there seems to have been studied.

at the same time, it is proposed that that there may be additional measures – these include monitoring.

A possible collaboration with Michele Ferrari, who has worked together with Astana manager Alexandr Vinokurov, will not be good for Jakob Fuglsang.

her point of view may, in fact, in this case risking between one and two years of exclusion from the sport, which can result in a retirement of the 34-year-old dane, who has two years left of his contract with Astana.

It has not been possible to get a comment from Jacob Fuglsang. For DR want neither he or Astana to comment on the report.
