Josephine Fock is the new political leader for the Alternative. She has won with 936 votes to 668 for Theresa Scavenius.
– What I feel right now, is a huge delight, says the new party leader announced in his acceptance speech.
– It is very important that we now stand together. Together we have a joint project going forward. A thousand thank you, thank you, it sounds far from Josephine Fock.
Josephine Fock would also like to thank the other candidates for the lederposten, but ‘especially Rasmus Nordqvist’.
– Rasmus and I go really far back to way before the Alternative. Our ekskærester were good friends. I understand if Rasmus does not think it is the coolest right now. But I will work closely with the Rasmus, so we get a good cooperation in the parliamentary group, she says.
in addition to the personal connection a good relationship with Nordqvist prove to be decisive for the Alternativets political future. Fock does not sit in Parliament. She should thus be the leader of the party from a position outside the Palace.
At the same time sitting both Rasmus Nordqvist and Uffe Elbæk is still in Alternativets folketingsgruppe at Christiansborg. It can thus be difficult for Josephine Fock to draw a new line for the party, if the two profiles at Christiansborg palace pulls in a different direction.
Uffe Elbæk has, however, announced that he finally has stepped down from the lederposten and will only act as an ordinary member of parliament with specific policy areas.

The 54-year-old politician won the first and the second ballot in the battle for the post of Alternativets new leader. Josephine Fock puts up a closer cooperation with prime minister Mette Frederiksen (S).
It can be important in the red block, where Uffe Elbæk maintained that the Alternative, under his leadership, not pointed at Mette Frederiksen, as prime minister, but instead was part of its own green block.
Despite its vast experience in the party and the past in the Palace she stands now with a very difficult task. The alternative was almost halved, from nine to five mandates in the elections in June 2019.
Internally, there has been division amongst the members, and Josephine Fock has even led election campaign that the party is ‘in crisis’.
