SAN FRANCISCO, — Three fishermen were rescued from their boat that capsized in Tomales Bay, north San Francisco.

Coast Guard released a statement saying that the boat started to take on water and capsized Monday approximately a half-mile from the coast.

Officers from California Highway Patrol alerted San Francisco’s Coast Guard that three people were on the hull of the fishing boat capsized. Officials said that a rescue boat was sent.

The Coast Guard’s Bodega Bay station arrived approximately 30 minutes after the alert was received and brought the fishermen to safety. The Coast Guard stated that they were not hurt but needed to be treated for hypothermia symptoms.

The Coast Guard rescue team was able to quickly reach the fishermen thanks to a GPS verification tool, Lt. Cmdr. Megan Dennelly is Sector San Francisco Search & Rescue Mission Coordinator.

She said, “Thankfully, the case was successful.”
