The NBA playoffs are a rough and sometimes brutal affair, with every team vying to win the championship. It is not an easy task, but there are many teams such as the Chicago Bulls, New York Knicks, L.A. Lakers, and Boston Celtics who have conquered multiple times. Winning the championship takes a high level of skill and tenacity from every player in the team, who, in turn, must be able to not only hone their own skills but work together in a team environment. The question is though, will the Milwaukee Bucks be able to back up their win from 2021. All signs point to yes but it is not an easy road by any stretch.

Although the Milwaukee Bucks have won sixteen division titles and three conference titles, they have only won two league championships in their 54-year history, the latest being in 2021. Compare this to the Los Angeles Lakers who have had 17 league championships. So, are the Bucks able to grab another title in 2022? The team has had many legendary players in its history, notably Ray Allen, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Bob Dandridge, the latter of the two who were vital to the 1971 championship, winning against the Baltimore Bullets (later the Washington Wizards). Another notable player that cannot be ignored is Oscar Robertson who was a powerful point guard in the 1970s line-up and has been a figurehead of rights for fair NBA players’ salaries.

2021 saw the Bucks’ second championship, winning over favorites the Phoenix Suns, who had previously beaten the L.A. Lakers in the Western Conference first round.

Things are not looking too bad for the Bucks going forward, with former NBA all-star Demarcus Cousins being signed on in November of 2021, and two-time MVP Giannis “Greek Freak” Antetokounmpo among the ranks of exceptional players. The NBA playoffs betting odds weigh heavily in their favor but ultimately only time will tell, as many of the other teams are hungry for the ultimate prize. The Los Angeles Lakers will want to have another crack at the championship as will teams such as the Boston Celtics who have won 17 championships since their inception, and the Golden State Warriors who won in 2018.

Not many teams have been able to secure consecutive victories over the years but the Milwaukee Bucks are in a good place at the moment, with a strong young team and a coach, Mike “Bud” Budenholzer, that knows how to get results. He became head coach of the Milwaukee Bucks in 2018 and the results speak for themselves. 2021 saw the Bucks’ first championship in 40 years so it goes to show that Bud knows how to put together an effective team. Together with a formidable team, the very least the Bucks can do is make the finals and if their opponents are off the ball, so to speak, by even a hair, the Bucks will be there to pick up the pieces and perhaps secure another championship and add to their credibility in the ranks of the NBA.

Any NBA fan should be excited about the season to come as the tournament is as ground-breaking and exciting as ever. Every team is great in its own way but sometimes a team will shine brighter than others so let’s see if the Milwaukee Bucks can continue their success in the 2022 season.
