MEN’S GIANT SALOM
Marco Odermatt from Switzerland won gold in men’s giant ski slalom at Beijing Olympics. He plowed through snow and had poor visibility.
Odermatt was able to overcome a weather delay of 75 minutes and a first-run error, posting an unofficial combined time 2 minutes, 09:35 seconds.
Silver was won by Zan Kranjec, Slovenia, 0.19 seconds ahead of the world champion Mathieu Faillere of France, who took bronze, 1.34 seconds behind.

BIATHLON
WOMEN’S 10KM PURSUIT
Marte Olsbu Roeiseland won Sunday’s 10-kilometer chase race in the women’s biathlon 10 km pursuit to earn her third Beijing Olympics gold medal and fourth overall.
Roeiseland managed to keep her focus despite strong winds and blowing snow and won the final stop in 34 minutes and 46.9 seconds.
Elvira Oeberg from Sweden was second in sprint and started 31 seconds ahead Roeiseland. She finished 1:36.5 short for silver.
Tiril Eckhoff, Norway, came in 1:48.7 less than her teammate for bronze.
SKIING CROSS-COUNTRY
MEN’S 4x10KM RELAY
The Russian team, just like the women’s cross country ski race, took a lead in the men’s relay and held it until Sunday to win the Olympic gold medal.
Sergey Ustiugov held a lead of more than one minute on the final lap over the two-man chase group of Johannes Hoesflot Klaebo from Norway and Maurice Manificat (France)
Ustiugov took a flag with him on the way to the finish and won the 10-kilometer relay in one hour, 54 minutes, 50.7 secs. Klaebo won the silver medal, 1:07.2 behind Manificat. France came in third, just 1:16.4 behind Russia.

SPEEDSKATING SHORT TRACK
500 MEETERS FOR MEN
Hungarian Liu Shaoang won Olympic gold in 500-meter speedkating.
He led the race and crossed the finish line in 40.338 seconds at Capital Indoor Stadium. Liu was awarded bronze medals in both the 1,000- and mixed relay.
Russian Konstantin Ivliev took silver. Canada’s Steven Dubois won bronze
Some of the most prominent names were absent from the A final. Wu Dajing, China’s defending champion, was moved to the B final. He won. In the quarterfinals, Ren Ziwei from China and Liu Shaolin Sandor from Hungary were eliminated.
