An Washington, D.C. former police officer, who was leading the D.C. LGBT liaison unit, was arrested over the weekend in Florida for allegedly engaging with a minor.
Brett Parson (53), was taken into custody in Boca Raton, according to a Fox News officer. He had been issued an arrest warrant by the Coconut Creek Police Department.
The officer stated that Parson was charged with two counts for unlawful sexual activity with minors.
The online court records indicate that Parson is currently being held at the Main Detention Center, Palm Beach County, without bond. It was not immediately clear if Parson had retained an attorney to speak for him.
Parson served nearly three decades as an officer in the Metropolitan Police Department of District of Columbia. He was the leader of the LGBT Liaison Unit for many years.
In February 2020, he retired as a full time MPD officer. He told the Washington Blade that he would remain with MPD in February 2020 as a reserve officer, serving at the pleasure and benefit of the Reserve Corp in any role that I can best serve the agency I love.
Fox News was informed by the MPD that Parson was fired from its Reserve Corps after learning of his arrest on Sunday morning.
