This was confirmed by the state’s Highway Patrol to CBS News. This is the third traffic offense that North Carolina State Highway Patrol has reported against the congressman in the past six months.
According to the highway patrol, Cawthorn was pulled over last Thursday for a traffic violation. Highway patrol stated that an officer found Cawthorn’s licence “in a condition of revocation”.
According to the state highway patrol, Madison was charged with driving without a valid license. Madison is due to appear in Shelby, North Carolina on May 6.
In January, a Republican politician was cited in Polk County for speeding. According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol Cawthorn was speeding at 87 mph within a 70-mph zone. The date of his court appearance for this charge is April 18.
Cawthorn was arrested in Buncombe County for speeding on October 18, 2021. According to highway patrol, he was speeding at 89 mph within a 65-mph zone.
CBS News reached Cawthorn’s bureau but they did not immediately reply to CBS News’ request.
