The airline Air Nostrum has already started the summer activity in which it has scheduled up to 50 routes that are added to those that the company usually carries out. The bulk of the operation is focused on tourist destinations, since both the Balearic and Canary Islands are the epicenters of this activity that comes to cover the high demand for holiday tourism in 2022.
The routes that have begun to operate sooner are those that connect Malaga with Morocco, which are already active in the case of connections between the city of Malaga and Nador, Tangier and Tetouan. This week the activity will begin with Casablanca and at the end of July the flights that will connect Nador with Alicante and Mallorca will be added to this African operation.
Some of the routes that will connect the Canary Islands with the peninsula are also available. There will be up to four weekly frequencies on the line between Las Palmas and Vigo and three on the one that connects the Canarian capital with Valencia and Valladolid. With this city also begins the connection with Tenerife.
The peak of summer in the Canary Islands
As of July 22, the Lanzarote airport will be added to the Canarian operation, so there will be three extra destinations that Air Nostrum will have in the islands. The most important novelty, says the company, is the launch of two routes that will link Arrecife with Vigo and Valladolid. With the Galician city, the frequencies will be on Wednesdays and Sundays, while with the Castilian city, the days of operation will be on Mondays and Fridays.
The airports of Malaga will also have routes from Arrecife with two weekly frequencies and Valencia, which will have four flights each week during the summer peak.
Alicante will have connections with Las Palmas (3 frequencies) and with Tenerife North (4). A similar operation will be scheduled with Santiago de Compostela from where there will be two frequencies with Tenerife and three with Las Palmas. León will enjoy two weekly frequencies (Tuesdays and Thursdays) with Gran Canaria and the Leon airport will also have a connection with Malaga from July 25 every Monday.
Finally, Air Nostrum will also connect Gran Canaria with Melilla with two weekly frequencies on Tuesdays and Saturdays and with Palma de Mallorca with the same number on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
The other great focus of activity this summer will be the airports of the Balearic Islands. As of July 22, 11 new routes will be added from the three airports of the archipelago. Mallorca will be connected with Zaragoza, Pamplona, ??Melilla and Badajoz; Ibiza will have new flights with Malaga, Vigo, Valladolid and Lérida while Menorca will be connected with Lleida, Pamplona and Vigo. In total, 25 new frequencies.
Nor will Santander airport have three completely new routes in Air Nostrum operations. From the Severiano Ballesteros there will be two weekly frequencies, on Wednesdays and Sundays, with Granada, Vigo and Jerez.
Another of the highlights of the summer are the flights that Air Nostrum opens between Spanish tourist cities with airports in France and Switzerland. With the Swiss country, the company once again schedules two routes from Ibiza, one to Geneva and the other to Zurich. From the Pitiuso airport it will also be possible to fly to Marseille, Nice and Toulouse with up to three weekly frequencies.
The airports of Mallorca, Málaga and Valencia will also have a connection with Nice, which from July 9 recovers the two summer frequencies with the city of the Côte d’Azur.
