Authorities said that an 11-year old boy from Indiana was killed by fireworks on Sunday evening.
Just before 10 p.m. on Sunday, Posey County dispatchers received a call that Camrynn Ray McMichael had been seriously hurt in a “fireworks accident” in Mount Vernon. The Indiana State Police released a statement Monday morning. On his way to the hospital, he died.
Details were not available Monday.
Camrynn was in fifth grade and had been a committed member of his school’s basketball and football teams. His mother Kyrra Lynn told WFIE-NBC of Evansville that Camrynn just finished fifth grade.
Lynn said that he died playing with fireworks as a boy. “A tragic accident that happened by chance, really. Fireworks are not a joke. And if you think it won’t be yours soon, it will.
Mount Vernon police are conducting an investigation. The Posey County Coroner has set Tuesday for an autopsy.
This incident was not the only tragic result of fireworks.
Authorities said that a man’s hand was broken in a South Florida fireworks incident, prompting first responders to rush him to the hospital.
