The Minister of Social Rights of the Generalitat de Catalunya, Violant Cervera, has announced the opening of a new line of rental aid for young people who could not access the 250-euro state bonus. The Generalitat, which will publish the bases in September, will allocate 29 million euros of its own funds and anticipates that some 14,000 young people can benefit.
In an interview with Europa Press, the minister stated that the state bond generated important expectations but that there was a “lack of resources” to be able to attend to all the requests: in Catalonia more than 38,000 applications were submitted -20% did not meet the requirements – and 9,666 could be granted.
Cervera has complained that, despite being a good measure, the state bond “was not well dimensioned economically or territorially”, with the same aid of 250 euros regardless of place of residence and with a concession that was based on the date request input.
The minister has said that in view of this situation of need and that the aid has been “short”, the Generalitat has decided to open a new line of aid, whose call bases will be published at the end of September, with which to alleviate young people who do not they got help with the state bond.
These new aids want to “correct the shortcomings” that they criticized in the state youth bonus: they will be by competitive competition, they will not grant the same amount to each beneficiary and the bases will prioritize not only income but also territoriality.
The aid, which will be called annually, will be for young people up to 35 years old and will have a maximum limit of 250 euros per month, depending on income and rental price.
