The National Police have arrested a 51-year-old man as the alleged perpetrator of a crime of serious injuries in the degree of omission, since his 80-year-old mother, with whom he lived in Telde (Gran Canaria), was neglected and in unhealthy conditions.
The arrest occurred after agents of the National Police learned of these events following a complaint from the Social Services staff of the Telde City Council, who reported on the unsanitary conditions in which an 80-year-old woman lived with her son. , who was not responsible for it.
The woman, who had been taken to the emergency department on several occasions due to various falls, was bedridden and did not receive any type of hygienic or sanitary care, which resulted in serious physical and mental injuries, according to the Police. National in a press release.
After the agents verified the conditions in which the elderly woman lived, they carried out, together with social services personnel, the necessary procedures to transfer the victim to a place where they would assist her and offer her the necessary care.
Finally, the victim’s son was arrested as the alleged perpetrator of a crime of serious injuries committed by omission for not having acted responsibly so that his mother did not reach the situation of helplessness in which she found herself.
